This wholesome bread is inspired by my travels through The Netherlands, where hearty rye loaves are a true staple. The rye berries are carefully soaked and sprouted before being incorporated into the dough, adding deep flavor, natural sweetness, and excellent nutrition. We use beautifully stone-milled flour from Carolina Ground to give the loaf its rustic character and rich texture.

Like many traditional European breads, this loaf continues to develop in flavor as it ages. For the best experience, slice it thinly and enjoy it with your favorite spread — from creamy butter and cheese to honey or jam.
